THE REGENCY OF KARO

The Regency of Karo with its capital Kabanjahe covers an area of 2,127.25 km2 and the temperature ranges from 16° C - 27° C and has elevations from 700 m to 1400 m above sea level. The population is 261,482. The people are pread out in 13 sub regencies and 258 towns and villages.

It is bordered by the Regency of Langkat in the North. Deli Serdang in the South. Dairi in the East and Aceh in the West. It is one of the primary tourist destinations in Indonesia, and Berastagi, 66 km from Medan, is at the centre of the tourism business.

Tourist attractions around Berastagi are relatively close by and easy to get to by public transportation, except for mountain climbing. There arc tourist accommodations, bus station, means of communication, medical services, and cultural attractions.
